Kiss Noises

Ouch!!!

I have used a hot glue gun a hundred times or more...usually at some early quiet hour of the morning I suppose but yesterday I was commanded to the attention of a school art project for number one daughter that involved gluing down this cute 'baubles' which are soft drink lid bottle tops covered in fabric, onto a Christmas tree base that was cut out of green felt.  Of course the project was urgent ( even if it is weeks, yes weeks early, it had to be done yesterday afternoon after I had got home from the shop and done the grocery shop and cooked dinner because poor darling husband was VERY unwell with infected sinuses) of course I also had to go out and purchase said glue sticks as I was out of them. 

So I fired up the glue gun and will the help of trusty daughter number one who sat under my elbow laying out the pattern of the baubles started to hot glue.  Daughter number two comes in chattering away, I loose concentration and apparently the grip on the bauble I was holding and i dropped it and it flipped glue side down onto my fingers.  Hot glue is surprisingly HOT and whilst I  had burnt myself before I knew the quick rub off trick normally works...not this time, this time the glue was sooo hot it melted off the skin on the  tip side of my ring finger and then left a big blister right across the top and oh my goodness it hurt!!

I started writing this post on Monday, it is now Thursday and i can get back to it for only a few minutes.  i somehow managed to use up all my download data time thingame wotsit and I decided to upgrade my plan and it was supposed to take 24 hours three days ago, and has only just come back on after I phoned and spoke to someone as in a real live person and there was no request noted from my computer attempts, so now it is fixed..yeah so much to catch up on...be back later... OK on with the story...you are riveted I know..

Anyhoo despite the fact that half of my finger is burnt to a crisp i still had to continue with the school project, so one daughter is holding the ice onto which I am resting my painful finger and with the other hand I am hot gluing and placing bottle tops onto Christmas tree template...great except they all don't fit on...it needs to have 30 and I have 24 on it....they simply didn't fit on the template...daughter is sobbing because they HAVE to have 30 on and I am wondering where I can get a quick pethidine injection for the pain in my finger.  An hour later daughter has cut all the bottle tops off the felt and I have cut out a bigger template one handed and then had a brainwave as to why it had to be hot glue....guess what it didn't!!!  AAAArrrghhh so out comes my favourite glue of all time Weldbond as this stuff sticks down anything and it dries clear, so one all the bottle tops go and onto the cake cooler it goes overnight and next morning all is right in the land of Christmas Tree's made of fabric, bottle tops and felt and I have a really sore finger that is interfering with my typing, washing up, sewing, you name it...oh well at least my child was happy and that is really all that counts is it not?

This has been a bit of an odd week, despite Laura and I trying to find JOY in everything, things like the computer slowing down to snail pace, having no money to go and play and having a sore finger it has been a little difficult.  Then the kicker was reading that the wonderful talented and highly amusing Karin from Creative Chaos  has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has to have an operation and chemo...really why is it always the nicest girls on the block that these horrible things happen to???? Trying to find the JOY trying to find the JOY.....

The weather is gorgeous and I am looking at going to Collectorama at Nambour on Saturday, so I am sure to find some joy there!

Do you want to see where I live?

I am so lucky to live where I do and I really should keep reminding myself.  Today was a pupil free day for my children ( the school is open only for teachers to do planning etc and there are no students there, they get a holiday).  That being so and the fact that my darling husband is on holidays we went down to the beachfront at Shorncliffe..less than 10 minutes away.

 

How cool is this??? This is carved into one of the huge rocks at Shorncliffe by a group of school students in homage to Aboriginal artists and the history of the area.  The works of art are created in the elements and left there to return to the earth as nature intended, making it all the more special.  This piece is actually 3 dimensional, not sure whether you can see that, some of the other pieces are paintings and you can see where they have started to wear off.

The other side of this piece is this wonderful Kangaroo.

 

 

We had walked around the bottom of Shorncliffe cliffs up and down rocks( no mean feat for my MS self but I did it) and the children played in rock pools and ran across the rocks like they were born to do so and I yelled out..' Be careful, slow down' and yep they ignored me.

 

We walked along the little sandy track under some beautiful weather worn trees.

 

We looked out to the sea.

 

The children collected interesting shaped rocks along the way in the shapes of hearts and Australia and boomerangs...I think they were feeling the love of the land and Grandma was finding them in the shapes of hearts and roses...there must be something in that.

 

I love trees that hang over paths and roads don't you?  There is something a little bit magical about that.

 

At the end of this track is a rock groin and the start of the park area.

 

I love living here!! Well I don't live here exactly though it appears some people do live up in the cliffs under some scrub...I wonder if they are anything like Catweasel....hmm not sure I want to find out. I would love to see pictures of the sort of place you live in, your suburb, your street...perhaps we should have a blog street party, how cool would that be to see the sorts of houses and flowers and buildings in your street...might work on this idea....until then TTFN Kiss Noises Linda

 

 

Halloween Holiday.....

Now we aren't very big on the whole Halloween thing but there is a fabulous party happening today and we really must attend..... It is rather a long flight so we have decided to stop off at Mirella and Malinda's Bed and Breakfast. We have heard that they serve a mighty fine cupcake and they have the best tea house imaginabubble.

We have phoned ahead to make sure they have a fresh batch of cuppies  and we might even convince our chickens to lay some fresh eggs for future cupcake baking, we hear they had a bit of an egg drama earlier today.....why the chickens insist on sitting on their nests i just don't know, we might have to give them a bit of a hurry up,  it is a a beautiful day outside. First of all they had to discuss who would oblige with the said eggs...

 

Powderpuff wasn't at all interested and turned her back on the conversation....

 

In the end Tilly thought she would provide the cupcake eggs.

 

Luckily we had an outfit for the event and we didn't need to change our usual makeup.

 

First of all we had to practice our witchy laugh, MHWAHAA...

 

MMMMHWAHAAAAAAA...

 

Now we had that perfected we had to make sure the broom was in working order, we had to rent one from Broomsareus as we had nothing suitable.  We had a little trouble with our outfits getting caught in the drive stick.

 

We eventually got ourselves organised and set off, luckily the girls at Mirella and Malinda's had a light out for us as it was very hard to find this little known establishment.

 

Unfortunately the Gatekeeper was sound asleep when we arrived.

 

He was soon awoken by the lovely Malinda, who I wouldn't mess with would you?

 

We were then escorted to the most gorgeous tea room.

It appears we didn't need the eggs though they were gratefully accepted.

The earlier egg incident had been delt with and the cupcakes were plentiful and to die for.  We ate rather more than we should which is really what is expected in such an establishment.

Well fed and well rested we continued on our way to THE PARTY OF THE YEAR at A Fanciful Twist

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday, we will see you when we return, until then witchy kiss noises, Linda and her witchy crew.

Roll up! Roll up! Circus elephants and lions.

I am not sure whether you have seen these before, they are two paintings i did for the Lilly Cottage kids shop ( Lilly and Billy) and when we closed that shop we brought them across the road to Lilly Cottage.  I really like these paintings, she says modestly but they really don't go with the rest of our goodies in Lilly Cottage.  Their colours are too bright for there...so they are going on to eBay...my account not the Lilly Cottage one.  I think i will list them as store inventory, that way I won't feel like I gave them away when they don't sell for more than 99cents on Auction.

Now the dashing Leo who doesn't really look very scary with a balloon tied to his tail!

 

 

I think Leo is my favourite, I love the way his face/fur worked out...and I did it without even having a real live one to copy from!!!

 

Well I suppose I should go and list these now, they aren't small paintings, they measure 50cm by 60cm, so I dread to think how I am going to post and how much that would be, but I will face that hurdle when I get to it.

Of course I have to take the others back and someone has a hold on the one I have had for a month and haven't even looked at....oh I am sooo disorganised, kiss noises again!

How many more sleeps untill Christmas??

No, on second thoughts I don't want to know because then I will be even more stressed out!! I really don't know how Janet Hill does those amazing paintings each and every day!! I am so in awe of her. 

I had decided that this year at Lilly Cottage and for the grand opening of Lollishops I would make some Christmas/All Year hanging pretties....That and all the other usual creations have me covered in glitter...I have no idea how it gets over everything, but it is magical!

 

 

Um aaahh Naked Gingerbread waiting for their frosting to be finished and their clothes to go on....they are going to look soooo cute.

 

Love love love them.....good enough to eat...except I don't like real gingerbread anything! I am not a huge fan of Ginger either in the sweet variety but love to use it in stir frys, wierd huh??
